Review
The new (and maybe the last) edition of the Gears series is exciting gamers all over.
Gears Of War 3, or GOW3, has three new key features: Multiplayer mode, the Fighting Horde, and last but not least, the Campaign. With The Campaign, executions change from being given to being earned. This sounds like more work, but the benefit is you get to to flaunt your earned executions to your friends.
The game also offers new weapons, like the upgraded sniper rifle, which is apparently a “one shot one kill” weapon. There’s also a brand new classified weapon that shoots out piranhas and eat you. It does sound weird, but it’s already a video game so it doesn’t matter.
Of course they kept the classic and upgraded Lancer. Instead of just having the chainsaw, the new Lancer comes with a bayonet, with, of course, a melee move. New grenades include Bolo grenades which are for only tagging enemies, the classic Frag grenade, the Incendiary grenade that acts like a molotov cocktail, and the Smoke grenade that now also stuns your enemies. And of course lethal ink. Not only do the Lancers have melee attacks, but the new Butcher Cleaver hacks, stabs, and slashes enemies.
Co-Op includes four players for campaign mode instead of the two player mode from the previous games. Speaking of Co-Op, Horde mode remains as five players but with a twist of its’ own. Horde now has turrets, blockades, and bosses. I don’t want to give too much away about GOW3, but here’s a hint: One of the first bosses is a Brumak.
