Review
Captain America is our classic hero from Marvel Comics. The story is set in the 1940′s during the time of World War II.
Chris Evans, who plays the role of Steve Rogers, first appears on screen as a weak, powerless individual who yearns to join the military in order to help his country fight against the Nazis. But because of his past health conditions and small physique, he is rejected four times after attempting to enlist with a different identity each time. Finally, Rogers is offered a chance to be a subject in an experimental operation to be America’s super soldier. After enduring a painful transformation, he becomes taller, more physically built, and stronger; therefore taking on the name Captain America. Following are the series of missions he accomplishes to rescue missing soldiers and win for the Americans.
The producers of this movie did a fantastic job in choosing the cast for Captain America. Chris Evans who plays the male lead (Steve Rogers), Hayley Atwell who plays the female lead counterpart (Peggy Carter), and Sebastian Stan who plays the captain’s best friend (James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes) are all definitely eye candy and they also act as well as they appear.
Though the acting is not disappointing, some of the actions scenes and romance certainly turned out to be. Captain America’s fight scenes are very quick and not as action-packed as expected of a hero. I also thought that his relationship with Carter would’ve expanded to the next level more quickly. I was let down with their romance since it didn’t really go anywhere as with the other super hero movies such as Green Lantern and Thor.
Overall, Captain America is a superb movie. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good superhero movie to watch. There were many scenes where my jaw literally dropped because it was so intense and I was so into the movie. It’s without a doubt that Captain America is now one of my favorite heroes.
