Idle No More moves through Fresno

Hundreds of Native Americans across Canada, the United States and even further down the continent are taking part in the movement Idle No More, which is a protest against Canada’s bill C45.

This bill passed by the Canadian government without the tribes’ consent or opinion affects the native tribes of the area because it violates the Indian Act. Tribes oppose the bill because it allows the Canadian government to manage the use of land and natural resources on the tribes’ reserves. Although only Native Americans in Canada are being affected by this bill Native Americans across the country have united to defend their rights.

Recently on the 30th of December participants of the Idle No More movement in Fresno protested at Fashion Fair Mall. They were part of a performance in which supporters danced, united in a circle to the rhythm of their instruments.
Protesters wore Idle No More shirts, waved the flags of their tribes and brought along posters to portray their disagreement with bill C45. So strongly are people opposed to this bill that the movement has traveled through States and has now become our concern.
